We offer a supportive and collegial environment where individual contributions are recognized and celebrated, and hard work is balanced with personal fulfillment and responsibilities.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Weintraub Tobin is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced, Litigation Docketing Specialist. This is a full-time, remote position for candidates in proximity to the Sacramento area. You get the flexibility of working from home and still stay connected to a close-knit team and our Sacramento office. The Litigation Docketing Specialist will be an experienced legal professional who has chosen to channel their strong litigation skills into the focus area of calendaring management.

- Calculate and docket all court appearances, documents, and statutes of limitations in accordance with local, state, federal, appellate, and administrative rules
- Identify state, federal, and administrative documents and apply the correct jurisdiction for calculations
- Analyze complex scheduling orders, case management orders and assess their effect on related case deadlines
- Research codes, authority, local court rules, and judges’ rules in response to attorney and staff inquiries
- Generate clear, accurate docket reports and perform quality control checks on all entries
- Perform legal research to ensure proper jurisdiction and calculation of deadlines and events
- Prioritize and identify rush assignments and docket them accordingly
- Identify and revise deadlines and events in the firm’s docket database when they are updated or concluded
- Audit and proofread docket entries, and help review the master calendar for accuracy and integrity
- Serve as a firm resource on local, county, state, and federal rules and policy changes
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years in a litigation docketing role. We may also consider some docketing experience combined with prior experience as a litigation secretary or litigation paralegal
- Strong understanding of the litigation process
- Experience with CourtAlert docket software preferred; experience with other rules-based calendaring systems (e.g., CompuLaw, Aderant Milana, ProLaw, eDockets) will be considered

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, firm-approved AI tools and their responsible use
- Paralegal certification and bachelor’s degree are preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable presenting to groups of attorneys in the absence of the docketing supervisor
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively
- A team player who works effectively and respectfully with all levels of staff
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- A professional, positive attitude and a commitment to exceptional service
- A reliable, secure home workspace with high-speed internet
- Willingness and ability to come to the Sacramento office as needed for occasional training or meetings
