This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time (1.0 FTE) and one part-time (0.5 FTE) Animal Services Account Clerk II position in the Department of Health Services. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. About the Position

The Animal Services Account Clerk II positions are part of the Sonoma County Animal Services team and work to support their overall mission of promoting responsible pet ownership throughout the community. These positions provide excellent customer service to the public in person, by phone, and through email. Additional responsibilities include:

• Helping members of the public with animal adoptions, including applications, billing, and payments
• Receiving and processing license applications and payments
• Entering and updating records and information in our systems
• Preparing and submitting weekly deposits
• Coordinating billing and processing payments related to the shelter
• Assisting with donations, including sending letters of acknowledgment
• Coordinating with the public to schedule animal surgeries and process voucher applications
• Ordering and maintaining office supplies

As an ideal candidate for these positions, you will have exceptional customer service skills, and you will possess many of the following:

• Experience with financial transactions and processing payments
• The ability to work with a diverse customer base
• Experience with data entry and database systems (experience with Chameleon is a plus)
• An understanding that building relationships within your team is important
• The ability to shift gears quickly, assisting where needed in a fast-paced front lobby environment
• Empathy, with an emphasis on working with the public in a calm manner
• A love for animals, as you will be working in an animal shelter
• Basic or fluent bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are desired, but not required

Please note: The schedule for these positions is Tuesday through Saturday, between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm, in person. The shelter is open to the public for adoptions, licensing, and animal surgeries on these days.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. Normally, this would include completion of 12 semester units or 16 quarter units in accounting, record keeping, business math, or a closely related field.

OR

One year of full-time experience which includes the review, processing, and maintenance of fiscal transactions and accounts, or statistical data and records.

License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position. The positions advertised on this announcement do not require possession of a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of: methods, practices, and terminology used in financial and statistical clerical work, including working knowledge of costs and budgetary accounting principles; modern office policies, regulations, and procedures related to account or statistical records maintained; basic arithmetic to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percentages; modern office methods and procedures; database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.

Ability to: review and work with tabular detail such as codes, figures, and numbers; make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately; use and understand common database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications; operate office equipment such as adding machines, calculators, and computers; review, code, post, balance, adjust, and summarize fiscal transactions or statistical data; maintain and reconcile related records; prepare final reports and statements; follow oral and written instructions; write neatly and legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; type accurately.
