Job Summary:
Operating Room (First Assistant) registered nurse in California. This position involves assisting under the direction of primary surgeons in perioperative care for surgical patients. The role emphasizes clinical skills such as suturing, maintaining hemostasis, exposing surgical sites, and adhering to hospital policies. The RNFA functions within established guidelines, demonstrating leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to patient safety. The assignment includes rotating shifts, with scheduled hours from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, or 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, including call requirements.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts; 8 hours per shift; minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Graduate of a school of nursing; required certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course; three years scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility; current RN license in the state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor; professional liability insurance; facility-specific licenses and certifications as required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in primary spine, orthopedic, and robot-assisted surgeries.
• Additional Information: Assists under the direction of surgeons in perioperative care, including suturing, providing hemostasis, and maintaining sterile fields. Ensures documentation accuracy, follows infection control standards, and participates in staff training and education. Maintains patient privacy and safety throughout all procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in intraoperative skills and adapts to operational changes efficiently. Responsible for timely charge documentation and effective utilization of department resources.
