What You Need Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology (required) or Associate Degree (preferred) 1 year medical imaging experience required and 1 year MRI experience preferred BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists MR upon hire required ARMRIT – American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists upon hire required ARRT (R) upon hire required ARRT (CT) upon hire required ARRT (N) upon hire required NMTCB – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board CNMT upon hire required CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist if ARRT(R), (CT), (N) or CNMT upon hire required ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists MR if ARRT(R), (CT), (N) or CNMT within 12 months required ARMRIT if ARRT(R), (CT), (N) or CNMT within 12 months required What You Will Do Explain procedures to patient or guardian / family member if applicable prior to exam. Position patient to correct anatomical area of interest. Perform complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations. Adjust technique parameters appropriately for age related factors. Assist radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique. Maintain attention to details. Process and manipulate images, analyze image quality, troubleshoot, make technique adjustments or repeat procedures as needed. Utilize proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS / RIS. Correctly send and transfer images to PACS. Print laser images from modality or PACS. Coordinate with Centralized Scheduling and other modalities. Use multidisciplinary, team-oriented actions to assess and recognize the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions. Prepare room for examination (e.g. suction, oxygen, supplies). Check physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures. Greet and acknowledge patient, using two forms of ID. Obtain patient history. Handle patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and monitor patient during imaging. Demonstrate knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment. Use proper body mechanics when assisting patient. Administer contrast media and other medications in accordance with medication administration guidelines. Process patient information, display proper phone etiquette and transport patients as needed. Communicate respectfully with co-workers and other departments. Adjust technical factors. Operate, care for and maintain equipment. Apply knowledge of physics and accessories. Troubleshoot and properly document equipment malfunction. Maintain equipment and room to sanitary standards between patients (injectors, table tops, floors). Stock supplies daily. Exchange and maintain film badges within designated time frames. Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards. Be productive during periods of decreased workflow. Maintain and enhance technical skills and technology advancement. Attend departmental continuing education, meetings, and check email in a timely manner. Identify, troubleshoot and initiate quality improvement. Manage time and re-prioritize as necessary. Perform any assignment deemed necessary by supervisor.
