Power BI Lead Developer

Job Summary:The Power BI Lead Developer is a role withing the Finance department where hands on experience designing, building, and deploying Power BI solutions is required. A successful candidate has a passion for consulting with our internal stakeholders to understand their needs, visual storytelling, and modeling data to deliver Power BI based solutions. This position brings and maintains in-depth knowledge on visual design and data modeling best practices within Power BI, performance tuning, deployment, and architecture planning, as well as being an expert in SQL. Job Duties:Leads the design, development, and implementation of the company’s BI architecture and strategyCollaborates with data governance team in developing data modeling standards, standardized datasets, and governance frameworksServes as the technical authority for Power BI developmentCreates reusable components and templates for Power BI developmentUnderstands business requirements and design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights and compelling storiesCreates effective and compelling “art of the possible” presentations to help highlight solutionsBuilds visualizations that take complex information and make it more accessible, understandable, and usable to derive insights and enable better business decisionsTakes branding standards and creates intentional design choices, color palette, and report design standards, choosing appropriate locations for objects with intention, and utilizing fonts and colors to design easily consumable reports Explores large data sets and relational databases, perform analyses and identify unique storytelling opportunitiesImplements modern data visualization methodologies and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of data visualization approachesImports, cleans and analyzes large data sets from disparate data sourcesCreates relationships between data and develop tabular data modelsCreates complex Data Analysis Expression (DAX) measures to support the data analysis needs of visualizationsMaps data models to source systems and track entire data lineageConfigures incremental refresh logic for reports and understands how to design a model which supports incremental refresh, including writing and deploying the XML for Analysis (XMLA) commands to customize incremental refreshCreates data model documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relationsDevelops training documentation for Power BI reportsCollaborates with data engineers in ingesting and warehousing data to support data models Serves as a leader to other team members, reviewing proposed solution designs, conducting code reviews, and troubleshooting advanced technical issuesManages workspaces, user permissions and deploys Power BI appsDesigns and supports complex Row Level Security (RLS) within Power BIMaintains a broad and current understanding of advancements and best practices in the design and development of data analytics solutionsStays up-to-date on Power BI monthly updatesTrains and mentors team members on Power BI best practicesOther duties as assignedQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree, required; degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or Finance, preferredExperience:Five (5) or more years of experience within Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or Application Development, requiredFive (5) or more years of experience with Power BI, required One (1) or more years of experience with Data Modeling, Semantic Model Definition or Star Schema Construction, requiredExperience working with Finance data, preferredSoftware:Strong SQL skills, requiredStrong ETL/ELT processes, requiredMicrosoft Power Automate Experience, preferredOracle Database Experience, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels and communicate complex concepts to senior and non-technical audiencesCapacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnelSolid organizational and excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentComprehensive knowledge of data design, data modeling, data management, and data visualizationStrong analytical and research skills related to the retrieval and organization of high volumes of informationAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyA team player who can lead and initiateAbility to work after hours and weekends as neededExcellent organizational and time management skillsKeywords: Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Power BI, Azure, DAX, API, RLS, Row Level Security, Application Programming Interface, Data Analysis Expression, Power Automate, PythonIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
