Job Title: Industrial Process Pipefitter
Job Description
The Industrial Process Pipefitter is responsible for the layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and maintenance of process piping systems in industrial and manufacturing environments. This role involves reading and interpreting piping drawings, installing carbon steel and stainless steel piping systems, and working safely around industrial equipment while adhering to project specifications and applicable codes.

$160 a day of per diem and a minimum of $30 an hour
Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and fit process piping systems including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and other piping materials in industrial and manufacturing settings.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, blueprints, and piping specifications to plan and execute work accurately.
• Lay out pipe routing, determine spool locations, and verify field dimensions to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Cut, bevel, thread, groove, and prepare pipe using appropriate hand tools and power equipment.
• Fit up valves, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, and other process equipment as part of complete piping systems.
• Install pipe supports, hangers, brackets, and anchors to secure piping according to project and code requirements.
• Perform equipment setting, rigging, and alignment activities to safely position and secure process equipment.
• Assist pipe welders with fit-up and quality control of welded piping systems to meet quality and safety standards.
• Conduct hydrostatic and pressure testing of piping systems to verify integrity and ensure leak-free operation.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, site safety requirements, and applicable quality standards during all work activities.
• Coordinate work activities with other trades and team members to meet project schedules and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing process piping systems during maintenance and shutdown projects to restore reliable operation.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in industrial pipe fitting, including layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and maintenance of process piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, blueprints, and piping specifications.
• Hands-on skills in cutting, beveling, threading, grooving, and preparing pipe using hand tools and power equipment.
• Proficiency in installing carbon steel and stainless steel piping systems in industrial environments.
• Capability to install and fit valves, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, and other process equipment into piping systems.
• Knowledge of installing pipe supports, hangers, brackets, and anchors according to project requirements and codes.
• Experience performing hydrostatic and pressure testing of piping systems to verify leak-free operation.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, site safety requirements, and industrial safety practices.
• Ability to coordinate work with other trades and follow project schedules in construction and industrial settings.
• Troubleshooting skills for identifying and repairing issues in existing process piping systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in industrial and manufacturing environments with process piping systems.
• History in construction-related pipe fitting and equipment installation.
• Familiarity with copper, PVC, and other piping materials in addition to carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Comfort with rigging, equipment setting, and alignment tasks in an industrial setting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in all work performed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with welders and other trades.

Work Environment
This role operates in industrial and manufacturing facilities, working around process equipment, piping systems, and construction activities. You will use a range of hand tools and power equipment for cutting, beveling, threading, and preparing pipe, as well as rigging and alignment tools for setting equipment. Work is typically performed on-site in active industrial environments where adherence to OSHA regulations, site safety rules, and quality standards is essential. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while working around machinery, piping, and other trades.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
