Description: The department operates a total of 4 MRI scanners. There will be staffing of 2 travelers along with an in-house staff member. No floating to other areas is required. Common types of imaging conducted include musculoskeletal imaging, basic neuro, abdominal/pelvic exams, radiation oncology, and breast imaging. Patients may include those with pacemakers and those requiring anesthesia care, as well as ICU and NICU patients. An average of 30 scans/studies is performed per day due to long protocols. The electronic medical record and PACS system used is McKesson or Changed Health Care Meditech. The department includes a full-time supervisor on each shift. While there may not always be a lead tech, a senior tech will be scheduled if necessary. Starting IVs is a required responsibility for the position. Shifts generally run for 4-10 hours. Weekend shifts will involve working high volumes of inpatients and a smaller volume of outpatients. Holiday work is required based on rotation. There is no call or standby requirement, but volunteers may be needed during short staffing. The dress code includes black scrubs with a black or gray jacket; fleece jackets are not permitted. The typical orientation consists of 1-2 weeks specific to the unit.
