SUMMARY

Responsible for daily supervision of all aspects of specialty pharmacy professional services. Perform functions to verify the appropriate dispensing of specialty medication referrals. Provide expert counseling and serve as a resource to answer medication related questions for patients, caregivers, physicians, pharmacist, nurses, and other related healthcare professionals. Oversee development and ongoing review of Specialty Pharmacy patient therapy surveys, ensuring they meet the needs of specialty patients and all involved industry partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for oversight of the daily operation of the specialty pharmacy program and accountable for workflow management, adherence to policy and procedures, compliance with internal and external regulatory bodies. Participates in business development activities with targeted industry partners to include development and maintenance of good working relationships with prescribers, other health professionals, and industry partners to drive growth of specialty business. Responsible for daily management of specialty pharmacy support personnel functions within the specialty pharmacy team. Counsels patients and medical providers regarding the nature and use of drugs, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects. Monitors the health and progress of patients to ensure compliance and optimize therapies. Assists to create and provide timely reporting of Specialty Pharmacy activities as needed to fulfill contractual obligations with industry partners. Provides courteous and efficient service to customers inclusive of patients, prescribers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and health systems. Available to cover scheduled oncall services during nonoperating hours to address urgent calls received. Maintains and participates in continuous quality improvement programs to ensure patient safety. Uses discretion and professional judgment in providing exemplary service within the pharmacist’s scope of practice. Completes continuing education programs as required by licensure requirements. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and Company policies governing all drugs and products; maintains required records, documentation, and reports. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Maintains a professional appearance including dress code. Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and automated dispensing systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Must complete a pharmacy license check, a background check, and a drug screening.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5 year Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Licensed and registered Pharmacist in good standing within the state of practice.
