Job Role: Senior Platform Scrum Master / Release Train Engineer (RTE) Data & Analytics

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid, 4 days in office)

ROLE SUMMARY:

Looking for a highly experienced Platform Scrum Master / Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead Agile execution across a large, complex enterprise Data & Analytics (D&A) platform comprising multiple products, product teams, and technology workstreams.

This is a senior, highly visible leadership role requiring demonstrated experience formally serving as an RTE or equivalent platform-level Agile leader, with direct accountability for Agile Release Train (ART) execution, large-scale SAFe event facilitation, cross-team dependency management, critical risk and impediment resolution, and predictable delivery across a complex enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of Agile delivery experience, substantial hands-on RTE experience, and experience coordinating at least 10 Scrum Masters/Product Teams simultaneously, with stakeholder engagement spanning hundreds of participants across the organisation.

They must have personally facilitated large-scale SAFe events and successfully managed complex delivery challenges involving multiple products, teams, and technical dependencies.

Experience supporting Data & Analytics platforms is required, including coordination across Data Engineering, data pipelines, analytics, databases, APIs, cloud platforms, infrastructure, security, and enterprise applications.

The candidate must be a strong facilitator, strategic problem solver, and delivery leader capable of influencing senior stakeholders and driving resolution of critical issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ART Leadership and Large-Scale SAFe Execution: Serve as the Platform Scrum Master / RTE, owning Agile execution, coordination, and delivery governance across multiple D&A product teams and workstreams.

Lead and facilitate large-scale SAFe events, including PI Planning, Pre-PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, ART Sync, PO Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt.

Coordinate at least 10 Scrum Masters/Product Teams simultaneously, ensuring alignment of PI objectives, team commitments, product priorities, roadmaps, and delivery milestones.

Drive end-to-end Program Increment execution, from preparation and planning through dependency resolution, progress tracking, outcome assessment, and continuous improvement.

Facilitate large-scale planning and coordination sessions involving hundreds of stakeholders, including Product Management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and business leadership.

Ensure teams establish realistic PI objectives and commitments, with clear ownership of dependencies, milestones, risks, and expected outcomes.

Critical Risk, Dependency and Impediment Management: Proactively identify, assess, communicate, and drive resolution of critical risks, cross-team dependencies, systemic impediments, and delivery blockers affecting the broader platform.

Lead resolution of complex issues involving competing priorities, resource constraints, integration challenges, shared environments, technical dependencies, and conflicting delivery commitments.

Facilitate escalations and decision-making with senior leadership, Platform Owners, Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering leadership when risks cannot be resolved at the team level.

Maintain a clear, actionable view of ART-level risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, owners, mitigation plans, and resolution timelines.

Demonstrate accountability for driving issues to resolution rather than simply recording risks, escalating blockers, or tracking status.

Data & Analytics Platform Coordination: Coordinate delivery across Data Engineering, data pipelines, databases, APIs, data integration, analytics, reporting, data products, and enterprise data platforms.

Manage dependencies between D&A product teams and Cloud, Infrastructure, Servers, Networking, Cybersecurity, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, and Application teams.

Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leads, and technical SMEs to translate platform priorities into executable delivery plans.

Coordinate integration testing, environment readiness, release planning, UAT, production readiness, and deployment dependencies across multiple products and technology teams.

Delivery Performance, Flow and Governance: Establish and maintain ART-level visibility into PI objectives, milestones, delivery commitments, capacity, dependencies, impediments, risks, flow, and release readiness.

Monitor and communicate relevant delivery metrics, including PI predictability, objective achievement, throughput, cycle time, work in progress, dependency aging, and blocker resolution.

Identify systemic delivery bottlenecks, capacity constraints, process inefficiencies, and recurring cross-team issues; develop and drive corrective actions.

Coach and mentor Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile teams on SAFe execution, effective facilitation, dependency management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Provide concise, actionable executive reporting on platform progress, critical risks, decisions required, delivery confidence, and recovery plans.

MUST HAVE: 10+ years of professional experience in Agile delivery, Scrum Master, program delivery, or enterprise technology delivery roles.
MUST HAVE: Demonstrated formal RTE experience or platform-level accountability for a large, multi-team Agile Release Train. Traditional team-level Scrum Master experience alone is insufficient.
MUST HAVE: Certified Scrum Master certification required, with strong hands-on SAFe experience. SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification is strongly preferred; candidates must disclose their exact SAFe certifications.
MUST HAVE: Proven experience coordinating at least 10-12 or more Scrum Masters/Product Teams simultaneously, managing delivery across multiple products and workstreams.
MUST HAVE: Demonstrated experience facilitating large-scale PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, ART Sync, PO Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt sessions.
MUST HAVE: Experience engaging and aligning hundreds of stakeholders across technical teams, product organizations, architecture, infrastructure, business functions, and senior leadership.
