Notes: Substitutes are hired on an as needed basis only for the 2026-2027 school year. If you previously applied for a substitute position in the 2025-2026 school year, it will be necessary to reapply using this posting. Current substitutes of the district are not required to reapply. In order to be considered for this position, the following steps are required: Must have high school diploma or GED, interview with a member of the human resources team. Candidates selected through the interview process will then participate in a new hire orientation. No applicant may start as a substitute until the hiring and orientation process is complete.

Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, develop, and eat, and to provide staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place to teach and eat.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Be familiar with and follow written guidelines, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity
• Shovel, plow, and maintain walks, driveways and parking areas, as appropriate
• Check daily to ensure that all exits are open and all panic hardware is working properly during the hours of building occupancy
• Raise the United States flag at or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day and lower it at assigned time
• Sweep, mop, wet-wash, and vacuum floors, and furniture and clean and polish fixtures and glass on schedule in assigned areas
• Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when conditions require it
• Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily and during the day when conditions require it
• Remove waste and trash from building
• Wash all windows on both sides at least twice each year
• Perform such yard keeping as necessary to maintain safe and attractive environment
• Clean all chalkboards at least once a week
• Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
• Report immediately to the principal any damage to school property
• Remain on the school premises during school work hours, and during non-school hours when attendance is required by the principal
• Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day including lights, heat, windows and doors
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities as directed by the principal or designee
• Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste
• Make minor repairs such as chairs, desks, and locks
• Perform daily cleaning of kitchen including waste and trash removal
• Shelve all deliveries in appropriate storagedry, refrigerated or frozen
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
