Equipment Operator/Sanitation - 3rd Shift

Machine Operator – Smithfield Foods Machine Operators work with meat cutting/packaging machines and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer. This position requires technical knowledge of computerized equipment and supports a safe, efficient production line to deliver high‑quality food. Responsibilities Operate meat cutting/packaging machines and other equipment to process meat products. Support coworkers and maintain a safe and efficient production line. Ensure products reach families across America while meeting safety, quality, and teamwork standards. Perform essential production tasks and uphold company safety and quality standards. Work scheduled shifts, including possible overtime based on production demands. Qualifications All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Willing and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Perform tasks requiring continuous or repetitive movement, grasping, pinching, and extending arms. Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift. Work around animal blood and carcass parts. Operate knives (if trained) and work in cold (20–40°F) or hot (>100°F) areas. Operate in wet, humid, and noisy environments while wearing PPE. Climb and move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms. Lift up to 30 lbs overhead or single objects up to 60 lbs, or use mechanical assistance. Possibly require certification to operate specific equipment. Physical Demands & Work Environment Perform tasks that involve continuous or repetitive movement, stretching, lifting, walking, and standing for the duration of an 8‑ to 12‑hour shift. The work is physically demanding and involves exposure to animal blood, cold or hot temperatures, and potentially strong odors and chemicals. Relocation Package Relocation package available for eligible candidates. Benefits Hourly competitive starting pay of $22.45 per hour. Shift differential of $1.00 per hour for 3rd shift.
