HIRING 1ST 2ND AND 3RD SHIFTS

Job Description

This role operates manual and automated saws to cut metal bar, tube, plate, and structural materials according to work orders in a heavy metals manufacturing environment. The position includes setting up and maintaining saws, performing accurate measurements and inspections, handling materials with a forklift, and recording production and quality data. You work closely with production and quality teams to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality workflow across multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and automated saws to cut metal bar, tube, plate, and structural material according to work orders and production schedules.
• Set up saws by adjusting feeds and speeds and selecting appropriate blades based on material type and job specifications.
• Monitor cutting operations to ensure accuracy, proper surface finish, and dimensional compliance with required tolerances.
• Perform in‑process and final inspections using go/no‑go gauges, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
• Bundle finished material, secure loads, and place bundles on pallets using a forklift and proper material‑handling practices.
• Build pallets as needed to safely store and transport cut materials.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes, lubrication, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
• Record production data, inspection results, and material usage accurately in logs or digital systems.
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment requirements, and safe material‑handling protocols.
• Collaborate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and material handlers to maintain workflow, resolve production issues, and support team goals.
• Work overtime as needed, typically 5–10 hours per week, to meet production demands.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a heavy industrial metals environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Machine operating experience in a production or metals manufacturing setting.
• Comfort working in a heavy metals environment, including exposure to heat and industrial noise.
• Basic machining experience, preferably involving saw cutting of metal materials.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.
• Proficiency using tape measures, calipers, go/no‑go gauges, and other basic measuring tools.
• Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance such as blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning.
• Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to handle material safely using forklifts and other material‑handling equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts and required overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodstock, IL.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Woodstock,IL.
