Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary:
The Medical Oncology RN provides specialized nursing care to patients with cancer, medical step-down cases, and medical overflow. This role requires a strong understanding of cancer pathophysiology and the ability to deliver comprehensive patient assessments, treatments, and care planning.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ needs regularly and provide skilled nursing services according to physician-approved care plans.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and respond to patient calls and alarms promptly.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and patient responses, collaborating with the healthcare team to update care plans as needed.
• Process physician orders accurately and ensure timely completion of all prescribed care.
• Follow up on medication changes and clarification of physician orders to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Prior oncology care experience required.
• Comfortable managing step-down patient care.
• Experience working with travel assignments preferred.
• Epic EMR proficiency highly preferred.
• Active Michigan RN license with LARA/Nursys confirmation.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
