Technician

This entry-level technician role provides a pathway into the maintenance department, offering hands-on exposure to wastewater treatment and utility systems in an automotive manufacturing environment. You will shadow experienced maintenance professionals, assist with daily operations, and gradually take on responsibility for inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on pumps, motors, tanks, piping, and related equipment, all while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment systems, including pumps, motors, tanks, piping, and related equipment.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on wastewater and utility equipment
• Collect wastewater samples and assist with basic testing and documentation as required.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels, promptly reporting abnormal conditions to supervision.
• Support chemical handling, dosing, and inventory management in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Respond to alarms or system issues and assist with troubleshooting efforts to restore normal operation.
• Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and maintenance records for wastewater and utility systems.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable local standards.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in wastewater and utility areas to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Support other maintenance or utility functions as needed to help keep the facility operating reliably.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical ability and mechanically inclined mindset for working with industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of pumps and their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of pneumatics and the ability to work with pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and work from schematics when performing maintenance or repairs.
• Experience or familiarity with preventive maintenance (PM) practices.
• Basic repair skills, including working with gearboxes and bearings.
• Pump knowledge specific to wastewater and utility applications.
• Exposure to low voltage electrical systems, particularly 24V.
• Awareness of electrical safety precautions and the ability to follow established safety procedures.
• Commitment to following OSHA, EPA, and local environmental and safety regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding experience or familiarity with welding processes is beneficial.
• Comfort working in an automotive manufacturing environment with industrial equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation, logs, and checklists.
• Attention to detail when monitoring gauges, meters, and control panels.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts and alternating day or night schedules.
• Ability to follow chemical handling procedures and inventory practices safely.
• Capacity to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Reliability and readiness to respond to alarms and system issues as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in an automotive manufacturing environment that relies on wastewater treatment and utility systems to support production. You will work with industrial pumps, motors, tanks, piping, gauges, meters, and control panels, using company-provided tools. The position follows a weekend shift schedule, with one technician on days and one on nights: Saturday–Sunday–Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., working 36 hours but paid for 40. Safety is a priority, including an annual fit test and a clean-shaven requirement to ensure proper use of respiratory protection. The environment is fast-paced and industrial, with clear procedures and standards to guide daily work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Greenfield, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $60320.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
