Senior Cloud Engineer

Senior Cloud Compute Engineer We are seeking a Senior Cloud Compute Engineer to join our Production Engineering team in New York. The Production Engineering division is responsible for providing innovative processes and tools for the operation of Tower's trading platforms. Responsibilities Advocating and defining cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems Designing, implementing and managing a large-scale, resilient, multi-tenant R&D environment utilizing cloud technologies Developing solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services Leading the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems Designing, maintaining and expanding our research computing environment using HPC technologies Collaborating with internal trading teams and external business partners to support their workloads in the public Cloud Providing technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners Qualifications Experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, HPC, or operations Strong client-facing communication skills. This is a highly visible position in an environment that can be very dynamic at times. Experience with managing HPC workloads in public clouds, particularly GCP and AWS Expert knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability) Expert understanding of OS concepts and internals of Linux, client-based hardware and server's components Understanding of and experience in infrastructure-as-code practices. Daily use of and contribution to developing automation and monitoring tools, such as configuration management, source control, CI/CD, automated deployment Expert knowledge of Python, and Bash; knowledge of Go and Perl a plus Experience with DevOps tools such as SaltStack, Cfengine, Ansible, and/or Terraform Experience with HPC tools such as HTCondor, SLURM, GridEngine, Nomad or Mesos Understanding of server-side networking and typical network and routing protocols Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems Additional Qualifications (Preferred): Formal education in computer science or similar disciplines Experience with container technologies, such as Docker and/or Kubernetes Participation in open source or personal projects Project management skills Financial industry experience 1872 Consulting
