Healthcare QAQC Specialist
ARCHSOL, LLC
We are seeking an experienced architect and technical leader to take a significant role in the quality and successful delivery of our healthcare projects. Our firm is a growing, healthcare-focused architectural practice of approximately 40–50 professionals. We work on consequential projects for hospitals, health systems, rural healthcare providers, and specialty care organizations throughout Arizona and the surrounding region. Our work includes new hospitals, major renovations and expansions, emergency departments, surgical platforms, imaging, cardiac services, women’s services, inpatient units, pharmacies, sterile processing departments, and other technically demanding healthcare environments. The Architectural QA/QC position is built around a simple belief: exceptional quality is developed throughout the life of a project and confirmed through an exceptionally thorough final review. We want quality thinking, infused earlier into planning, design, documentation, coordination, and construction preparation so that issues are identified and resolved while decisions are still being made. At the same time, we place tremendous importance on the comprehensive final review of the completed construction documents. For us, that final review is not simply a procedural checkpoint. It is one of the hallmarks of great architectural practice. We are looking for someone capable of both perspectives: the ability to influence quality throughout the project and the discipline to perform a thorough final review before the work is issued for construction. This individual will participate throughout the project lifecycle, helping teams anticipate technical issues, strengthen coordination, and make sound decisions as the project develops. Responsibilities will include: Participating in project startup and helping establish appropriate technical, coordination, and quality expectations. Reviewing major planning, design, code, constructability, and technical decisions as projects develop. Identifying risks early, when they can still be resolved efficiently and thoughtfully. Helping teams translate healthcare planning and design intent into coordinated and technically sound construction documents. Establishing meaningful interim QA/QC reviews at appropriate project milestones. Reviewing architectural assemblies, details, specifications, and critical building interfaces. Evaluating interdisciplinary coordination between architecture, structure, MEP, fire protection, medical equipment, technology, interiors, and specialty consultants. Incorporating vendor and owner-furnished equipment into the overall coordination and quality review process. Performing and leading a rigorous final review of the complete construction document package prior to issuance. Looking across disciplines rather than reviewing each discipline in isolation, with particular attention to conflicts, omissions, interfaces, constructability, and operational consequences. Supporting teams through permitting, bidding, RFIs, submittals, field conditions, and construction-related technical issues. Following significant issues into construction so that lessons learned become improvements to future projects. Identifying recurring problems and helping improve firmwide standards, details, specifications, processes, and training. Mentoring architects and project teams in technical judgment and healthcare project delivery. What We Are Looking For: The strongest candidate will likely bring: 10+ years of architectural experience, with substantial healthcare project experience. Professional architectural registration strongly preferred. Significant experience delivering hospitals, medical centers, ambulatory facilities, or similarly complex healthcare environments. Deep knowledge of construction documents, detailing, specifications, consultant coordination, and construction administration. Strong understanding of healthcare codes, FGI Guidelines, life safety, accessibility, and applicable regulatory requirements. The ability to comprehensively review large and technically complex construction document packages. The ability to review architecture, engineering systems, medical equipment, vendor equipment, and specialty systems as an integrated project rather than as separate scopes of work. Strong constructability instincts and an understanding of how design decisions translate into field conditions. Experience resolving difficult technical issues during construction. The judgment to distinguish between a genuine project risk and simply a different but acceptable way of solving a problem. The confidence to identify important deficiencies regardless of where they occur in the documents. The communication skills to raise those concerns constructively and work with the project team toward resolution. A genuine interest in mentoring others and elevating the technical capability of the organization. How We See QA/QC: We do not see QA/QC as something that occurs only at the end of a project. Nor do we believe the answer is to eliminate or diminish the importance of the final review. The best quality process does both. It brings experienced technical judgment into the project earlier, allowing teams to resolve issues progressively as the work develops. Then, before the documents are issued, it subjects the completed project to a disciplined, comprehensive review by someone capable of seeing both the details and the whole. Quality should be built into the project from the beginning—and verified without compromise at the end. The successful candidate will understand how to read those environments and communicate effectively within them while maintaining strong professional and technical standards. Why This Position Is Different: For someone who has spent years delivering technically complex healthcare projects, a conventional QA/QC position can feel removed from the decisions that determine whether a project ultimately succeeds. We want this position to remain connected to those decisions. You will have the opportunity to influence planning, design development, technical execution, consultant coordination, construction documentation, and construction itself. You will also have something increasingly rare: the responsibility and authority to take a comprehensive look at the completed project before it is issued and ask the difficult final question: Is this project truly ready to build? That means reviewing considerably more than whether dimensions close or details reference correctly. It means understanding the architecture, engineering, healthcare operations, equipment, constructability, specifications, and interfaces well enough to recognize when something simply does not make sense. #J-18808-Ljbffr ARCHSOL, LLC
