Overview:

The Machine Builder II independently assembles, aligns, tests, and troubleshoots complex mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems, including pneumatic circuits and vision system support. This role requires mid‑level expertise in advanced assembly, precision alignment, metrology tools, and diagnosing system issues with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

•Independently assemble complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems using detailed drawings, schematics, wiring lists, and written instructions.

•Identify and verify mechanical and automation components using BOMs, parts lists, and engineering drawings.

•Lay out, measure, and mark mechanical components used in automation stations, tooling, fixtures, and machine frames.

•Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets

•Assemble mechanical subassemblies including guarding, frames, tooling plates, mechanical linkages, nests, and conveyor components.

•Build, repair, and validate jigs, fixtures, templates, and precision tooling.

•Support alignment of linear rails, bearings, cylinders, and complex mechanisms.

•Install, plumb, and verify pneumatic components and assemblies with minimal oversight (air valves, cylinders, FRLs).

•Build, test, and troubleshoot complete pneumatic circuits including valve banks, regulators, vacuum systems, and air prep units.

•Safely operate basic fabrication tools (Bridgeport, drill press, band saw) under guidance.

•Perform advanced calibration, precision alignment, and system testing using metrology tools.

•Support vision system setup and verification (Keyence, Cognex, IRVision) at a functional/integration level.

•Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and recommend corrective actions.

•Travel is required for field support on FAT/SAT, and startup support at customers facility (travel averages 10-20%)

•Physical demands: lifting 30-50 lbs, standing/walking frequently

•Any additional duties assigned by management

Qualifications & Experience:

Any combination of education and/or experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

•4–8 years of mechanical or electro‑mechanical assembly experience, demonstrating the ability to independently build, align, test, and troubleshoot complex automated systems.

•4-8 years’ experience in Machine Building, Pneumatics, required

•4-8 years’ experience in Robot Programming (Fanuc, Toyota, Yaskawa, ABB, etc) is preferred

•Must be able to read blueprints

•Must be able to use a multitude of hand/power tools
