Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support commercial real estate accounting operations in Waxahachie, Texas. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume transactional work across multiple properties while maintaining accuracy and consistency in financial records. The position will focus on rent accounting, month-end close activities, and financial reconciliations for several legal entities, with regular use of Excel to analyze and organize accounting data.Responsibilities:• Oversee day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties, ensuring financial activity is recorded accurately and on schedule.• Track and apply rent payments for approximately 60 property locations each month, following up as needed to maintain complete and timely collections.• Establish and maintain payment records and accounting support for multiple legal entities connected to the property portfolio.• Prepare and post journal entries related to recurring activity, month-end close, depreciation, and amortization.• Complete general ledger, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies through detailed research.• Produce and review income statements and balance sheet reporting to support accurate monthly financial results.• Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, depreciation schedules, and related accounting entries.• Use Excel tools such as PivotTables and VLOOKUP to organize financial data, identify trends, and support account analysis.
