Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A)

Job Summary

The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays an integral role in supporting the nursing team by assisting with the total resident/patient plan of care. This includes facilitating activities of daily living, education, recreation, and transportation, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents/patients with daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
• Demonstrate effective listening skills to provide support for resident/patient needs.
• Take initial vital signs and provide weights to nursing staff timely.
• Report changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
• Follow procedures for Universal Precautions consistently.
• Monitor and accurately record resident/patient intake and output per unit standards or physician orders.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding resident/patient information and support their rights.
• Foster a productive working relationship with healthcare team members.
• Assist in the orientation of patients/residents/families to the unit and services.
• Provide additional care as directed by the RN/LPN and adhere to the care plan.
• Demonstrate empathy towards residents, patients, and families while remaining objective in challenging situations.
• Exhibit flexibility and seek assistance in problem-solving as required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Maine C.N.A License.
• Passion for providing care to long-term residents and skilled rehabilitation patients.
• Ability to remain diplomatic and tactful in interactions with others.
