Job Title: Family Engagement and Communications Intern Reports to: Enrollment Manager Department: Program Category: Internship Status: Part-Time 15-20 hours/week Salary: $12.50/hour Position Description Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Family Engagement and Communications Intern to help us stay connected with children and families who are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister. With many children waiting for a mentor, it is important that families continue to feel connected to Big Brothers Big Sisters while they are on the waitlist. The Family Engagement and Communications Intern will help maintain regular communication with families, share agency updates and resources, plan opportunities for families to engage with BBBS, and ensure waitlist information remains accurate and up to date. This position is a great opportunity for someone interested in communications, nonprofit work, community engagement, event planning, or working with children and families. Job Responsibilities Waitlist Communication & Engagement: Maintain regular communication with families on the BBBS waitlist to help them feel informed, valued, and connected to the agency while they wait to be matched. Waitlist Management: Help maintain accurate and up-to-date waitlist information, including tracking family contact, identifying changes in contact information or circumstances, and communicating updates to appropriate program staff. Family Outreach: Develop engaging and family-friendly communications such as emails, text messages, newsletters, program updates, and invitations to keep families connected to BBBS. Quarterly Family Meet-Ups: Help plan and coordinate quarterly events for children and families on the waitlist. Responsibilities may include developing activities, communicating with families, coordinating logistics, tracking RSVPs, and assisting with events. Some weekend and evening hours may be required for these events. Resources & Opportunities: Share relevant BBBS resources, community opportunities, upcoming events, and other information that may benefit children and families while they are waiting for a mentor. Feedback & Relationship Building: Gather feedback from families about their waitlist experience and identify ways BBBS can improve communication, engagement, and support for families waiting to be matched. Data Tracking: Document family outreach and participation, maintain accurate records, and help track engagement with communications and events. Collaboration: Work closely with BBBS program and communications staff to ensure messaging is consistent, timely, welcoming, and reflective of the agency's mission. Able to commit to nine-month internship Strong written and verbal communication skills. Friendly, professional, and comfortable communicating with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Organized and able to manage multiple projects and follow-up tasks. Creative and interested in finding new ways to keep families engaged. Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, databases, and other BBBS communication tools. Dependable and able to maintain confidentiality when working with participant information. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and car insurance Able to pass a background checks including National Sex Offender Registry, Criminal History, and driving record check.
