About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Neuro ICU License: Active nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have at least 1 year of experience with Epic EMR. Candidates should have strong experience in Neuro ICU. Experience with external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients is required. NIHSS certification is mandatory. Description: Candidates must have strong Neuro ICU experience or experience with ICU patients with neuro injuries such as stroke and neurosurgery post-op. Competence in EVD maintenance is essential. Candidates should have experience in a large hospital setting with a minimum of 300+ beds. It is required that all staff float to other units as needed. Refusing to float may result in termination of the assignment. Staff will only float to units they are qualified for, and tasks performed will be based on documented competencies. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is typically 13 patients with a total of 16 beds available. Unit supports include various interdisciplinary teams such as IV teams, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services. Patient diagnoses primarily include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, as well as post-operative care for neurosurgery and neurovascular interventions. Candidates must be willing to meet the floating requirements and adhere to the competencies outlined.
