Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - PMHNP (1099 Independent Contractor)

Location: Denver, CO | In-Person

Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

Schedule: 30-40 hours per week | Option for four 10-hour shifts

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, empathetic, and experienced Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP)-either a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA)-to join our flagship outpatient treatment center in Denver.

The ideal candidate will have significant psychiatric experience and a strong interest in innovative mental health treatments. This provider will serve as an on-site clinical lead, delivering patient-centered care during ketamine and esketamine treatments while supporting the daily operations and development of the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for patient medical concerns, including hypertension, nausea, and other treatment-related needs.

Determine appropriate PRN medication needs and adjust ketamine/esketamine dosing in collaboration with medical leadership.

Administer and monitor Spravato (esketamine) and provide direct patient care throughout treatment.

Support future services including TMS, medication management, and therapy.

Monitor patients during treatment and provide clinical guidance, emotional support, and appropriate interventions.

Support real-time clinical decisions throughout the patient journey, including intake, treatment, follow-up, and integration.

Clinical Operations & Leadership

Partner with the Clinic Director to maintain safe staffing levels and efficient daily operations.

Help ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive patient experience.

Mentor and support clinical staff while encouraging professional growth and teamwork.

Foster a warm, collaborative, and supportive clinical environment.

Participate in the ongoing development of the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing with PMHNP preparation or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current, unrestricted Colorado NP or PA license.

PMHNP certification required.

Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority for controlled substances.

Significant experience working in a psychiatric/mental health setting.

Experience with mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma.

Previous clinical leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience.

Comfortable discussing psychedelic treatments and related therapeutic frameworks.

Strong clinical assessment, crisis management, documentation, and communication skills.

Proficiency with EMR systems and standard office technology.

Preferred: Experience with ketamine, esketamine, or other psychedelic-assisted therapies, although this is not required.
