Job Description The Senior Manager, Production Planning provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Materials Planning and Scheduling teams, ensuring seamless execution of end‑to‑end material planning processes for a group of manufacturing facilities. The role optimizes raw material and finished goods availability across all contract and non‑contract materials, manages demand planning, production control, inventory, and cross‑functional teams to enhance operational efficiency, maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize costs, and ensure timely delivery to customers. Essential Functions Provide strategic direction for material planning and scheduling processes, aligning with overall operation/ manufacturing goals. Lead the Materials Planning and Scheduling team, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture through guidance, mentorship, and professional development. Participate actively in the site’s SIOP process, contributing expertise in material supply‑related activities. Collaborate with procurement leadership to communicate and coordinate teams, resolving due date and shortage issues. Engage cross‑functional teams to define project timelines, supply chain objectives, and execution strategies. Oversee implementation of planning strategies and effective management of purchasing requisitions. Maintain key planning parameters within the MRP system for data integrity, ensuring accurate output and addressing action messages. Supervise analysis and processing of purchase requisitions and fulfillment of work orders across multiple projects. Monitor and execute project production schedules to meet master production and contract delivery dates. Manage exceptions such as material delays or changes, acting as escalation point to minimize risk to the production plan or contract date. Monitor and manage key operational metrics, including MRP usage, PO manufacturing need‑by dates, work order execution, and master schedule attainment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to materials planning and scheduling. Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain management, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. If a degree is not available, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience is required. Preferred Additional Skills 5+ years of progressive experience in materials, planning, or inventory management. In‑depth knowledge of MRP and ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus. Knowledge of the SIOP process. Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge of defense program planning desired but not required. Six Sigma, Lean, or APICS certification; CPIM certification highly desired. Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate, influence, and lead across multiple levels, teams, and business units. Change agent who can transform the organization and maintain high engagement. Leads process improvement initiatives with minimal direction and supervision. Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large datasets. Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels. Benefits and Compensation In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $117,000–$218,000 in selected California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas, and $102,500–$190,500 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Cleveland, OH, and Vermont. The final offer may vary based on experience and geographic location.
