Special Education Learning Support Teacher – 4th Grade Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full‑Time Salary: $54,000 to $104,000 Per Year Application Deadline: Posted until filled Job ID: 5772684 Job Summary The ideal candidate will support the District's mission and vision and have the primary responsibility to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that meet state‑mandated standards. Each teacher will also communicate regularly and effectively with students and parents. They create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, focusing on academic, social, emotional and behavioral development. The Special Education Teacher collaborates with parents, caregivers and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment. Duties & Responsibilities Provides instruction and support to special education students in accordance with their individualized education program (IEP). Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to address students’ individual needs. Works cooperatively with district staff and outside agencies to coordinate students’ program and provide appropriate level of support. Coordinates services for students on caseload, preparing essential documents and adhering to timelines (e.g., permissions, evaluation reports, IEPs, notice of recommended placement, progress reports). Collects and effectively communicates data, providing ongoing progress monitoring. Collects and documents ESY‑Extended School Year data to determine eligibility. Participates actively as part of the multidisciplinary team and facilitates IEP meetings. Provides staff development to professional and support staff on special education needs, interventions, strategies, teaching methodologies, and required modifications. Prepares Positive Behavior Support Plans when necessary. Participates in interagency meetings when necessary. Attends scheduled Special Education Department meetings and professional development. Develops and implements crisis plans and approved crisis prevention & intervention techniques during crisis situations. Adheres to district policies, procedures, professional, ethical and legal standards. Ability to pull small groups or co‑teach in classrooms. Required Skills & Abilities Positive attitude toward the teaching profession and district service. Proficiency in using technology for individual or group demonstration or communication. Effective interpersonal skills with teachers, administrators, parents, students and outside organizations. Excellent classroom management skills. Effective communication skills to provide accurate information and follow directions. Good judgment, planning, human relations skills, and ability to work under periods of stress. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Valid Pennsylvania Certification: Special Education K‑8 or K‑12. 2+ years teaching experience desired. Pre‑employment Requirements Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance. Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (ACT 168). School Personnel Health Record and TB test. Physical Requirements Light work: pushing, moving, lifting objects. Dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Clear vision at varying distances. Verbal, auditory and written communication capabilities. Sitting and standing for extended periods. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally.
