WOOSTER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Operating Room Assistant (ORA)
MAIN FUNCTION: Facilitates and assists with the daily flow of activities of the operating room and patient care by cleaning the operating room suites and related areas , transporting patients and equipment, stocking supplies, and performing other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Clinical Manager Surgery
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED.
BLS required
Able to assist in lifting patients into wheelchairs or beds/carts.
Able to maneuver carts, beds, or wheelchairs for patients of varying size using good body mechanics.
No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
Flexible hours during daytime shift.
Good communication/customer service skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in this position may be exposed to blood, body fluids, and/or airborne pathogens and are required to wear barriers.
* Denotes ADA Essential
* Follows Appropriate Service Standards
* Facilitate efficient Operating Room turnover and preparation for the following cases in a timely manner.
* Transport patients, case carts, instrument trays, and specimens to and from the operating room in a safe and efficient manner.
* Provide support to the OR suites as necessary and directed.
* Stock supply closets in the operating rooms as directed.
* Assist in gathering equipment necessary for the operating rooms.
* Remove unnecessary equipment return to its proper place.
* Understands the mechanics of carts, beds, and wheelchairs and able to operate each independently and safely.

* Assist in opening of sterile supplies as needed and directed

* Performs additional assignments as needed and directed by the charge nurse.
* Follows AORN and ANSI Guidelines for Perioperative Environment
