Quality Assurance Electrical Engineer in Pasadena, CA — $44.55–$74.30/hr DOE, 1st shift, temporary contract. Review electrical facility designs for code compliance, constructability, and quality.

Shift: 1st shift, 9/80 schedule, 6:00 AM start; exact workdays and end times confirmed before submission

ABOUT THE ROLE

Help make the electrical infrastructure behind the laboratory safe, maintainable, and buildable.

Review facilities design and construction documents as part of a standards and compliance team. Evaluate electrical calculations, systems, and drawings and provide actionable QA/QC comments through approval and resubmittal.

This is an on-site contract assignment with detailed technical documentation and review requirements. This temporary assignment is currently scheduled through 9/26/2027. The 9/80 schedule includes extended workdays; exact daily hours and the alternating day off will be confirmed before submission.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Review electrical drawings and specifications against CEC and applicable building and energy codes
• Evaluate compliance with facilities design standards and accepted engineering practices
• Review load calculations, short-circuit studies, coordination studies, and single-line diagrams
• Assess grounding, bonding, lighting, controls, and power distribution
• Coordinate electrical reviews with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems
• Produce clear QA/QC comments in Bluebeam and verify resubmittal corrections
• Identify safety risks, design deficiencies, and nonconforming work
• Maintain review records, improve QA checklists, and report progress

WHAT YOU NEED

• Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or similar with 6 years of related experience, master degree with 4 years, or Ph.D. with 2 years
• U.S. citizenship as required by the client
• QA/QC and design-review experience on moderately complex building or facilities projects
• Knowledge of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and industry practices
• Ability to evaluate construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations
• Experience with high-voltage systems, electrical controls, and control interfaces
• Bluebeam proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Use a computer to review detailed models, drawings, calculations, and technical records, and participate in on-site engineering and design reviews. Any hardware-handling or facility-access demands will be reviewed before submission.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

On-site engineering offices and laboratories, with technical reviews and coordination around developmental or flight hardware. Follow laboratory and facility access procedures. PPE is required and provided where applicable, and all site safety procedures apply.
