Production Scheduler

Role Description The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating production schedules to support customer requirements, material availability, and manufacturing capacity. This position works closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Sales to ensure efficient production flow, timely order completion, and accurate planning data. The role supports production planning activities, manages work orders, monitors inventory requirements, and assists in optimizing manufacturing resources to meet business objectives. Job Functions The essential functions of the Production Scheduler include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules for manufactured and purchased finished goods. Provide customer delivery dates based on production capacity, material availability, backlog, and operational priorities. Manage and expedite approved rush orders to meet customer requirements. Maintain rolling production schedules to support manufacturing operations and on-time delivery performance. Release and manage manufacturing and subcontract work orders from initiation through completion. Monitor work order progress and communicate potential schedule delays or production issues. Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to ensure production activities are completed according to schedule. Assist in balancing production requirements with available labor, equipment, and facility resources. Identify capacity constraints and recommend schedule adjustments to improve workflow and efficiency. Collaborate with Procurement and Sales to align material requirements with production schedules and customer demand. Review bills of materials (BOMs), inventory levels, and material availability to support production requirements. Identify material shortages and coordinate corrective actions to minimize production disruptions. Support inventory planning efforts to maintain appropriate levels of raw materials, subassemblies, and finished goods. Conduct demand reviews and assist with short-term and long-term production planning activities. Maintain accurate scheduling, inventory, and planning information within ERP/MRP systems. Analyze production and material requirements while accounting for material, labor, equipment, and facility constraints. Generate reports related to production schedules, inventory levels, on-time delivery, and operational performance. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for process improvements. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of production planning and inventory data. Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Perform additional duties as assigned to support business and operational needs. General Requirements Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred. 2-5 years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, bills of materials (BOMs), and inventory reports. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business demands. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Skills and Abilities Understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing workflows, and inventory management principles. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Skilled in analyzing schedules, production data, and operational requirements. Effective communication with supervisors and production teams. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality. Ability to operate or learn to operate cutting equipment safely. Physical Requirements Seeing: Ability to read production schedules, work orders, reports, labels, and computer screens, and review detailed planning data (75-100%). Hearing: Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and customers in office and manufacturing environments (75-100%). Standing/Walking: Ability to move throughout production and warehouse areas to monitor operations and coordinate activities (25-50%).
