Dental Assistant I

Dental AssistantPrimary Purpose: Perform a variety of dental assisting duties to promote quality dental care.Essential Duties:Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment and operatories, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist dentist during dental proceduresTake and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patientsTake and expose dental diagnostic x-raysMake preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts; pour study casts.Assist dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.Apply topical fluoride to teeth.Provide post-operative instructions prescribed by dentist.Receive supplies, stock cabinets and inventory supplies.Clean and tidy work area as required.Follow KPHC Dental Clinic practice guidelinesAttend staff meetings and other meetings as required.Other Duties:Perform other related duties as assignedObserve safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.Minimum Qualification Requirements:Skills/Knowledge:Basic mathematics skills.Ability to work with people of all ages.Education/Experience:Completion of a Dental Assistant Training Program (internal or external) OR at least one year of experience working as a dental assistant.Current CPR and first aid response certificates required.Kalihi-Palama Health Center is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity, and values the ways in which we are different.
