Prep Chef

Kikka sushi is looking for energetic, hardworking, dependable, Prep Cook / Line Cook team member that will provide great customer service in our new location in the Whole Foods located at: 135 Greene Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302 .

Full time only, 5 days a week (must work all Saturdays, and Holidays) working between the hours of 5:30am – 4pm, (9 hour shifts which includes an hour unpaid meal break).

The Prep Cook / Line Cook team member will make sushi in advance and per customer's request. No experience making sushi, no problem we will teach you! The team member will also do prep work, prepare other Asian foods and maintain a clean and neat environment while helping customers in a fun, fast paced, exciting environment.

To thrive you must show up to work on time and as scheduled, have a flexible morning and evening availability, be willing to work hard (this isn’t an easy job), be patient (it takes about 3 months to get comfortable with the job), must be willing to stick it out (not quit after a few days or weeks) and be able to work with multi-cultural and multi-lingual co-workers, some who barely speak English. 

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Per Jersey City Municipal Code 22-045: Up to $19.00, depending on years of sushi making working experience. No sushi making working experience, $17.00, not negotiable. Tips not allowed. Bonus eligible after 90 days. See below for other benefits.

Qualifications:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Be familiar with sushi
• Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work all Saturdays, Sundays and holidays

Preferred experience:

• Working in quick service restaurants, supermarkets or fast paced environments
• Food handling experience and food handler certification
