Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Care Unit

The Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) is a 30-bed unit providing medical, pre-operative, and post-operative surgical care to admitted patients classified as medium to high acuity. The unit caters to patients who are generally stable but at high risk of becoming unstable, presenting higher complexity, and having existing co-morbidities. This necessitates a higher level of nursing care than what is typically found in general patient care units. The CVU serves a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients. Examples of conditions treated in this unit include:

• Cardiac diagnoses
• Pre/Post cardiac artery bypass surgery
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Post pacemaker insertion
• Arrhythmia detection
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Pneumonia
• Other related disease processes

The patient-to-nurse ratio shall not exceed 1:4.

Shift Information

• Shift: 12-hour days, starting at 0700
• Holiday Coverage Required: Yes

Qualifications

• Current California RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience with EPIC charting
• Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care experience
• Successful completion of prior traveler assignments

Note: The role may require floating to other units, including Med/Surg.
