We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Housekeeping to lead our housekeeping department and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Position Summary

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests and team members. This position provides leadership and direction to the housekeeping team, with a strong focus on quality control, employee development, inventory management, labor efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

The Director of Housekeeping ensures that all guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, and back-of-house spaces meet Hilton brand standards and hotel expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house cleanliness.
• Supervise and support Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants, Housepersons, and other housekeeping team members.
• Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate team members to maintain a positive, productive, and professional work environment.
• Prepare and manage employee schedules based on hotel occupancy, business needs, and labor budgets.
• Monitor daily productivity, attendance, and departmental performance to ensure operational efficiency.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and housekeeping facilities to ensure cleanliness and compliance with Hilton brand standards.
• Develop and maintain cleaning procedures, quality control practices, and departmental standards.
• Manage housekeeping supplies, linens, uniforms, cleaning equipment, and inventory to control costs and prevent shortages.
• Monitor departmental expenses, labor costs, and budgets while maintaining service quality.
• Work closely with the Front Office, Engineering, Human Resources, and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations and timely resolution of guest concerns.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, and housekeeping-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, health and safety regulations, sanitation requirements, and proper chemical handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of employee schedules, inventory, inspections, training, and departmental activities.
• Coordinate with staffing agencies, vendors, and outside contractors when necessary, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with hotel procedures.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, effective communication, and a positive workplace culture.
• Participate in management meetings and support hotel-wide initiatives to improve guest satisfaction and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of housekeeping management experience, preferably in a full-service hotel environment.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Previous experience with Hilton or other major hotel brands is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a diverse team.
• Experience managing housekeeping schedules, labor costs, inventory, and departmental budgets.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and service standards.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with hotel property management systems and housekeeping management software is preferred.
• Knowledge of Hilton brand standards and housekeeping inspection procedures is a plus.
• Ability to review occupancy reports, monitor room productivity, and adjust staffing based on operational needs.
• Knowledge of inventory management, budgeting, labor control, and departmental forecasting.
• Understanding of workplace safety, sanitation procedures, and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with team members and other departments.
