BLS and ACLS Common diagnosis / Types of patients ETOH, DKA, heart failure, sepsis, stroke, GI surgery, GU surgery, joint replacements Experience or 'Must have' skills 2 years experience in tele/stepdown Are RN's required to titrate drips yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips insulin, heparin, amiodarone, cardizem Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Yes monitor techs, yes need to read strips, GE monitors Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge Nurses or NSM/ Does not take patients Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios yes Unit Aides/ Ratio varies RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.) Cpap, bipap, hi flo Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Shift length & times: Days=0645-1915 Nights=1845-0715 Weekend Requirements varies Holiday Requirements varies Is there Call or a Standby requirement? no Floating Requirements?
