Pharmacist (RPh) - Contract Position through 4/18/2027OptumRx, a division of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a licensed Pharmacist (RPh) to support pharmacy operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient medication dispensing while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting pharmacy workflow, production goals, quality standards, and patient safety initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute daily pharmacy operations, including workflow management, production quotas, and deadlines.Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies, including DEA requirements and third-party payer regulations.Supervise pharmacy production staff to maintain efficient workflow, order accuracy, and adherence to delivery schedules.Verify the completeness and accuracy of all new and refill medication orders, labels, packaging, and dispensing activities.Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of sterile IV medications and other pharmacy products.Assist with the ordering, receiving, documentation, storage, and inventory management of controlled substances.Maintain perpetual inventory records for Schedule II medications.Ensure the workflow dashboard is cleared daily and operational goals are met.Follow all HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.Participate in on-call rotations and provide coverage as needed.Maintain compliance with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and professional appearance.Provide timely, constructive feedback to team members and support employee development opportunities.QualificationsBachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy.Current pharmacist license in good standing.Strong knowledge of:Drug-drug interactionsDrug-disease interactionsDrug-food interactionsMedication allergies and contraindicationsAbility to accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a high-volume environment.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.Work EnvironmentThis position operates within a pharmacy and long-term care healthcare setting. The role regularly utilizes pharmacy and office equipment, including computers, phones, fax machines, photocopiers, filing systems, and medication dispensing equipment.
