Development CoordinatorFisk University - Nashville, TN 37208OverviewLevel: Experienced Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Category: Admin - ClericalDescriptionPosition SummaryThe Development Coordinator supports the stewardship, communications, reporting, data management, event coordination, and operational functions of the Development and Alumni Affairs Office.Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this position serves as a key member of the Development and Alumni Affairs team by coordinating projects, maintaining donor and constituent records, supporting stewardship activities, preparing reports, coordinating events, and assisting with the execution of departmental priorities and initiatives.The Development Coordinator works closely with development staff, campus partners, donors, alumni, and volunteers to help ensure the successful execution of Development and Alumni Affairs activities. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, responsiveness, initiative, and a commitment to collaboration and high-quality execution.Essential Job FunctionsDevelopment Operations & ReportingMaintain and update donor, alumni, and constituent records within the University's donor management system.Assist with the accurate and timely processing and documentation of gifts, pledges, contact reports, and constituent activity.Generate reports, mailing lists, donor lists, event lists, and other materials that support fundraising and engagement activities.Maintain data integrity through record maintenance, quality control, and documentation practices.Support stewardship tracking, project coordination, and departmental reporting needs.Donor Stewardship & CommunicationsPrepare donor acknowledgment letters, stewardship communications, and related correspondence.Coordinate donor recognition activities and stewardship initiatives.Prepare meeting materials, briefing documents, and follow-up communications.Support departmental communications and engagement efforts.Events & Project CoordinationCoordinate and support donor, alumni, stewardship, and fundraising events.Manage event logistics, registrations, invitations, materials, and follow-up activities.Monitor project timelines, assignments, and deliverables.Support departmental projects and strategic initiatives.Administrative & Team SupportMaintain organized electronic and physical records related to development activities.Coordinate meetings and prepare supporting materials and documentation.Process purchasing requests, invoices, vendor coordination, and related administrative activities.Provide operational support for departmental priorities, projects, and initiatives.Support the efficient functioning of the Development and Alumni Affairs Office.Collaboration & Constituent SupportWork collaboratively with members of the Development and Alumni Affairs team to support departmental priorities and institutional goals.Provide professional and responsive service to donors, alumni, volunteers, faculty, staff, and community partners.Contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented team culture.Support engagement activities that strengthen relationships with Fisk University.QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.One to three years of experience in nonprofit administration, higher education, development support, communications, project coordination, customer service, or a related field.Experience utilizing a CRM system or donor database to manage constituent information and engagement activities.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred: Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations.Familiarity with Blackbaud products, particularly Raiser's Edge NXT.Core CompetenciesCollaboration and teamworkOrganization and attention to detailCommunication and professionalismCustomer service and responsivenessInitiative and follow-throughProject coordination and executionTime management and prioritizationProblem solving and adaptabilityCommitment to supporting departmental goals and institutional prioritiesAdditional Requirements: Development Coordinator is required to work on campus five days per week.
