Our companies, as members of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, provides opportunities for professionals interested in just that.The Agency Underwriting Assistant, assists underwriters by entering submissions and information into rating software, prepares accounts, reviews, and processes endorsements and/or handles renewal underwriting activity.This position will be with Pacific Gateway Insurance Agency in Valencia, CA and is eligible for Hybrid work. This position is NOT Eligible for employer work authorization sponsorship.What will you do?Identify, review, and classify risks; enter risks into rating software as applicableOrder, review, and evaluate inspection reports, MVRs, loss runs, audits, and other underwriting dataProcess endorsements, calculate additional and return premiums, and issue binders, new business, and renewal policiesEnter and verify submissions in AMS; request, review, and validate updated exposure information from agentsCommunicate with Underwriters and Agents to provide quotes, obtain supplemental information, and ensure required documentation is receivedWhat are we looking for?High school diploma or GED with two years of college or equivalent work experienceOne or more years of relevant work experienceBasic math and rating knowledgeProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and related PC software)Strong understanding of insurance terminology and policy coveragesAbility to apply company guidelines related to risk acceptability and profitabilityKnowledge of company and departmental practices and proceduresExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail with accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesP&C Insurance License and insurance coursework (CPCU, IIA, AU) preferredWho would excel in this role?A detail-oriented professional who works accurately in a fast-paced environmentA self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with a teamA customer-focused communicator who builds strong relationships with agents and underwritersAn organized problem solver who can research, evaluate options, and make sound recommendationsSomeone who responds well to time-sensitive demands and changing prioritiesIn accordance with state pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith salary range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this job is $23 - $28 per hour based on the primary posting location of Valencia, California.
