MRI Technologist

Primary scheduled hours: Days, Friday/Saturday/Sunday, (3) 12 hour shifts

Pay Scale: Compensation within the posted range will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity considerations.

Job Summary: Performs a variety of MRI imaging procedures as applicable and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
• Knowledgeable of MRI safety protocols if applicable.
• Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
• Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.

Education Background and Experience

Minimum Education: Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology Program.

Required Licensure / Certifications: State licensure that permits them to perform diagnostic MRI exams and documented training on the provision of diagnostic MRI exams. Registration and certification in radiography by ARRT with MRI credentials and documented training on the provision of diagnostic MRI exams.

Required Experience: One (1) year of practicing MRI Technologist experience. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Proficiency with most major MRI equipment manufacturer's hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Toshiba).

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
