BASIC FUNCTION

Assists machine operators engaged in the manufacture of sheetmetal parts for commercial air handling equipment and coils.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING.  OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED

• Lifts, positions, and removes work-pieces from machines.
\n
• Assists machine operator in loading and unloading machine.
\n
• Labels parts and stacks them in the appropriate location in the proper orientation and with appropriate job routers.
\n
• Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
\n
• Collects tubes and parts required for building coils.
\n
• Builds coil body (builds frame, inserts fines and tubes).
\n
• Deburrs metal parts as necessary
\n
• Pick up and trucks scrap from work areas.
\n
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
\n
• Wears all required PPE.
\n
• Trains new or existing employees, if necessary.
\n
• Performs other routine duties.
\n

• Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
\n
• Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
\n
• Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
\n

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shop-floor paperwork, and procedure manuals).  Ability to write information from layout drawing to parts.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

No computer skills required.

Forklift license required in some departments.  Must be able to obtain within three (3) months.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.  Those employees with forklift licenses will require distance vision.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE :  22.61 - 24.62 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
