Overview Of The Primary Care Physician Role The Primary Care Physician serves as a clinical leader within a senior-focused primary care organization, managing a diverse patient panel and leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, personalized care. Key Responsibilities Include Providing direct patient care, including wellness visits, chronic disease management, and minor injury treatment. Leading and supervising clinicians such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and maintaining collaborative agreements. Overseeing clinical operations, quality improvement initiatives, and population health programs. Managing clinical staff performance, participating in recruiting, scheduling, and resolving clinical and patient issues. Contributing to strategic planning, profit initiatives, and operational improvements. Ensuring compliance with confidentiality, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Participating in community engagement, provider committees, and quality metrics such as HEDIS. The Role Requires MD/DO degree, board certification in Family, Internal, or Geriatric Medicine, and at least 8 years of clinical experience. Leadership experience, licensure, and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and value-based care models. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and technological skills.
