BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician in Ophthalmology. As an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician, you will help diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and help hold patients for detailed ocular exam
• Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (retinal electrical function, etc.)
• Set-up and assist with procedures and surgeries that restore comfort and vision ranging from outpatient procedures to basic and complex surgeries
• Outpatient procedures: diamond burr debridement (to stimulate corneal healing), CO2 laser (to remove eyelid margin masses)
• Surgical procedures including eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery
• For patients undergoing sedation or anesthesia, place IV catheters and fluids, administer drugs through various route, perform and monitor sedation/anesthesia (with advanced skills including constant rate infusions, paralytics, ventilation, etc.)
• Anesthesia training is available with help from our anesthesia specialist
• Help organize and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies
• Be the frontline in educating clients on their pet's ocular disease and care
