Material Specialist

Location: Waterloo, IA Pay: $23-$25/hour Schedule: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM Position Type: Long Term Contract, W2 Industry: Manufacturing / Material Operations Job Summary We are seeking a Material Specialist to support manufacturing operations in Waterloo, IA. This position will work closely with production and material flow activities, combining shop-floor support, data analysis, communication, and coordination to help keep operations running efficiently. Approximately 50% of the role will be spent on the manufacturing shop floor, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of hands‑on operational involvement and computer-based work. Responsibilities Support material flow, manufacturing operations, and production planning activities. Monitor and analyze operational information using Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. Work directly with production teams on the shop floor to support day‑to‑day material needs. Communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, and other internal teams. Assist with tracking, coordinating, and resolving material or production‑related issues. Use data and reporting to help identify operational needs and support decision‑making. Travel between local Waterloo facilities as needed for meetings and business‑related activities. After completing required safety training, may operate a company‑owned utility vehicle inside the manufacturing facility. Maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, organization, and communication. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related business field is highly preferred. Experience in operations, material flow, production planning, or a manufacturing environment is a plus. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong data analysis and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability and willingness to work approximately 50% of the time on the manufacturing floor. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, although candidates with 3-5 years of professional work experience after graduation are preferred. Must be willing to work overtime or off‑shift hours when business needs require it. Must be able to travel between local facilities using a personal vehicle when necessary. Additional Details Pay range: $23-$25/hour 1st shift: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM Overtime may include extended weekday hours or weekend work. Interviews will be conducted onsite. Business casual attire is appropriate for the interview. Metatarsal protection will be required for the first day.
