A/R Specialist

The Opportunity Avantor’s Accounting team is crucial to our global performance. We are seeking an Accounts Receivable (A/R) Specialist to support the Nusil Credit & Collection team at our Carpinteria, CA location. This role focuses on collecting outstanding customer balances to optimize company cash flow, including follow‑ups with delinquent accounts, notifying customers of insufficient payments, and resolving account discrepancies. What we’re looking for Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Experience: Minimum 1‑3 years of accounts receivable, cash applications, or corporate accounting experience. Technical skills: Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, sort/filter, lookups). Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred. Who you are Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize and multi‑task to meet deadlines. Detail oriented with proficient data entry skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations. How you will create an impact Communicate with assigned customers to collect payments on outstanding invoices. Provide invoices, proof of delivery and customer order documentation to the customer as needed. Monitor aging reports to proactively identify, prioritize, and track delinquent status of assigned customer accounts. Resolve billing disputes and short payments by partnering with the Commercial and Customer Care teams. Apply customer payments to appropriate accounts in SAP based on bank remittance information and apply credit/debit memos. Recommend and implement action plans for delinquent accounts and hold meetings with customers and associates to follow up on collection issues. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date account balances, reconcile with customers, and issue statements of account as necessary. Identify accounts with credit balances and initiate refund processes where appropriate. Assist with preparation of monthly collection forecasts and determine variance versus actuals. Handle advance payments by coordinating with the customer and Customer Care team. Keep electronic customer files updated and perform other duties as assigned.
