Financial Controller

We are a rapidly growing energy trading firm with a strong footprint in the U.S. power markets. We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions in Houston Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including cash flow statements. Manage accounting for trading activities, including settlements, mark-to-market (MTM), P&L reporting, and trade-related accounting entries. Oversee NAV calculations and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Calculate and review management fees, investor fees, and other applicable fund or investment-related fees. Implement and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in collaboration with leadership. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and other external service providers. Work closely with trading and risk teams to ensure accurate trade capture, settlements, MTM valuations, and financial reporting. Improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiency as the firm scales. Lead and mentor accounting staff and oversee day-to-day accounting activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) 10 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to energy trading, financial services, or commodities Prior experience at a Big 4 accounting firm or fund accounting environment strongly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Familiarity with trade accounting, settlements, and P&L reporting is a plus Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
