We have partnered with an amazing non-profit organization in downtown Austin ( to help them hire an experienced Chief Financial Officer. The role is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership that strengthens organizational sustainability, supports long‐term growth, and advances mission impact. This role oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial administration, and strategic planning. The CFO also manages financial activities related to partnerships where Caritas serves as a fiscal agent.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy, policy development, and long‐term financial planning in alignment with organizational goals.
• Assess organizational performance against the annual budget and multi‐year growth plans; provide clear, actionable insights to the CEO and Board.
• Oversee financial administration, business planning, budgeting processes, and financial reporting.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, offering financial forecasting, risk analysis, and scenario planning to support decision‐making.
• Manage and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all financial, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Provide leadership in a dynamic, fast‐paced environment, demonstrating strong autonomy, judgment, and deadline‐driven execution.

Qualifications:

Education

• Required – Bachelor Degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a close related field
• Preferred – Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
• Preferred – Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Experience

• Required – Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience in an organization(s) with a budget of at least $5 million.
• Preferred – 5+ years of significant NPO and grant-funded environments experience.
• Preferred – Experience working with grants from the City of Austin, HUD, and/or the VA is a plus.
• Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, internal control, and reporting.
• Experience with compliance and financial management of federal, state, and local government grants.
• A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Computer Skills

• Abila MIP Fund Accounting experience preferred or experience with other larger ERP systems (i.e., NetSuite, Financial Edge NXT, or Sage Intacct)
• Advanced computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities.
