Position 2026-2027 Paraprofessional, Class I Positions (JobID: 9584) Details Position Type: Support Staff / Educational Assistant Date Posted: 4/29/2026 Location: W-E Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools Schedule: 9 months / 5 days per week / 7 hours per day (Hours: TBD per building needs) Compensation: Starting hourly rate $18.23 (per 2026-2027 salary schedule) Benefits Paid Sick Days Personal Days Paid Holidays Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Primary Duties Assist assigned student(s) with physical tasks (must be able to lift at least fifty pounds); reinforce class rules when teacher absent; assist substitute teacher; listen to student recitations, readings and other curriculum tasks; work with small groups to reinforce materials/academics initially introduced by the teacher; reinforce behavior management techniques; accompany student(s) when trips to the office and/or school nurse are necessary; serve as resource person, as requested, to the student evaluation team concerning one of the students assigned. Bathroom duties, etc., and other duties as assigned per the needs of the students. Responsible for getting students to and from transportation. Must possess CPI training and be physically capable of effectively executing the necessary crisis prevention holds and de-escalating procedures. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: follow instructions and provide positive reinforcement; work well with others; relate to and work well with students; communicate with students, staff and the public, both individually and in groups; good verbal and written skills; improvise in difficult and/or unusual situations; function under stress. Education/Training: CPI training will be provided. Ohio Department of Education requires a one-year Educational Aide permit (applied for during hiring). Applicants must also meet one State of Ohio requirement: have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test, hold an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or have completed at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an accredited college or university. Experience: previous experience in special education preferred.
