Job description: Pay: From $17.50 per hour Residential Advocate Schedule: 3:00 PM-11:00 PM, Monday through Friday Location: Fort Bend Women’s Center | Richmond, TX About Fort Bend Women’s Center At Fort Bend Women’s Center, we are committed to providing innovative, compassionate, and evidence-based services to individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence. About Our Work We provide programming that: Is grounded in brain health and trauma-informed care Promotes hope, healing, and social connection through positive reinforcement Reduces the long-term impact of trauma, including lifelong abuse Encourages self-determination and personal accountability Delivers mobile and community-based services Is data-driven and rooted in evidence-based practices Position Summary The Residential Advocate plays a vital role in supporting shelter operations and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for residents. This position requires compassion, adaptability, and the ability to respond effectively in crises while maintaining professionalism and strong boundaries. Key Responsibilities Respond to crises, including answering hotline calls and providing crisis intervention Ensure the safety, well-being, and respectful treatment of all shelter residents Complete new client onboarding, including shelter tours and welcome kits Maintain accurate and timely documentation, logs, and shift reports Monitor shelter conditions, ensuring cleanliness and organization of all spaces Perform routine room inspections and maintain accurate room status updates Assist with volunteer coordination and shelter-related events Support daily shelter operations, including kitchen assistance and supply distribution Communicate effectively with team members, including shift handoffs and weekly meetings Monitor security cameras as needed in accordance with policy Transport clients locally as required Handle incoming calls, inquiries, and donation coordination Promote a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based environment Uphold agency core values: Service, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Teamwork Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred Experience in residential advocacy or human services is a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Valid Texas driver's license and current auto insurance Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Preferred Skills & Competencies Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented attitude Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or crisis situations Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills Experience working with individuals impacted by trauma (preferred but not required) Ability to build trust through active listening and culturally competent communication Maintains professionalism, sound judgment, and appropriate boundaries Flexible and adaptable Commitment to client confidentiality and ethical standards Why Join Us?
