Senior AccountantCAP3 is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Wilmington, NC. This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who enjoys more than simply checking accounts and preparing financial statements.Our Senior Accountants are a critical part of the team responsible for making sure our clients' financial information is accurate, timely, understood, and useful.You'll work closely with many on our team to review client financials, lead the month-end close process, prepare financial reporting packages, and help clients understand their current cash position and upcoming needs through the preparation of cash projections.This is a great role for someone who has a strong accounting foundation but also wants to understand how the numbers connect to the day-to-day operation of a business.What You'll DoOwn the Month-End CloseYou will be a key member of our Month-End Team, responsible for making sure client books are closed accurately and on time.Perform regular reviews of client financials throughout the monthIdentify unusual activity, errors, missing transactions, and potential issues before month-endPrepare and complete month-end close proceduresReview balance sheet accounts and ensure appropriate reconciliations are completedAnalyze income statement and balance sheet activityInvestigate variances and unusual fluctuationsWork with Transaction and AP team members to resolve outstanding itemsCoordinate with client leads on issues requiring additional reviewEnsure financial statements are accurate, complete, and ready for client presentationPrepare Client Financial Reporting PackagesThe numbers are only valuable if they can be understood and used.Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for clientsCompile financial statements, dashboards, and supporting reportsReview financial results for accuracy and completenessIdentify significant trends, variances, and items requiring attentionHelp translate accounting information into clear explanationsProvide client leads with the information they need to effectively advise clientsContinually look for ways to improve the quality and usefulness of client reportingWeekly Cash Budget & Cash ManagementYou'll also have a direct role in helping clients understand and manage their cash.Prepare weekly cash budgets and cash flow projectionsReview current cash balances and expected inflows and outflowsIdentify upcoming cash needs and potential cash constraintsReview outstanding bills and upcoming paymentsIdentify payments requiring client approvalHelp prioritize payments based on available cash and business needsCommunicate cash needs and concerns to the appropriate internal team membersIdentify potential cash flow issues before they become problemsHelp clients maintain a clear picture of where their cash is goingWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who can own the accounting process, not someone who simply completes a checklist.The right person is:Analytical – You don't just look at a number; you ask why it changed.Detail-oriented – You understand that small accounting errors can create big problems.Proactive – You identify issues before someone has to tell you about them.Business-minded – You understand that financial statements tell a story about how a business is operating.Organized – You can manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities.Accountable – When you own something, you see it through.Communicative – You can clearly explain an accounting issue to someone who isn't an accountant.Problem-solving – You enjoy figuring out what is wrong and determining how to fix it.Coachable – You welcome feedback and are always looking for ways to improve.Hands-on – You're comfortable getting into the details when the situation requires it.Why CAP3?CAP3 isn't a traditional accounting firm.We provide accounting and financial support to growing businesses, but our goal isn't simply to produce financial statements.
