QA LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Plating Requirements: Capable of plating all RTC, RTE, and NPIS samples and other plating samples as needed. Ability to use 3M Petri Film Reader to read plates or do a visual count. Pathogen Testing Requirements: Capable of testing samples for Salmonella, Salmonella Enteritis, and Listeria in all required samples. Prepare and make slurries for testing. Ability to do confirmations of Salmonella and Listeria using Salmonella antisera and API strips. Data Entry: Ability to set up samples in LIMS system and enter results as well for all NPIS, Product, Environmental samples, drag swabs, and any other results in LIMS. Able to determine which dilution (count) to enter in LIMS per SOP. Review entry and verify to make sure all data entered is correctly entered. 5S (SORT, SET IN ORDER, SHINE, STANDARDIZE, SUSTAIN) Able to operate Autoclave for making media, sterilizing, and killing waste. Label and stored all media properly. Properly dispose of autoclaved wastes. All media quantity and autoclave time is recorded on log sheet. Media that requires PH is PH’d and recorded. Padded gloves are used for handling hot media or hot items retrieved from autoclave. Deionized water used to make media make sure it is changed when red light is on. In addition periodically test for APC to ensure no contamination is present GLP (Good Lab Practices) Able to do any special project for example: Shelf life studies or Bio-Mapping Studies and others as needed. Additional Responsibilities Able to assist on RTM samples. Able to assist in salt testing, moisture, and fat on CEM & Salt reader. Participation in API check sample testing.
