DMC C-Store Clerk (Full-Time) Graveyard Shift

The Convenience Store Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service while performing a variety of retail and food service duties. This position includes operating the cash register, preparing and maintaining hot food items, stocking merchandise, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. Ensure the store remains organized, well-stocked, and always welcoming customers.

Knowledge & Certifications Required:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Basic math and cash handling skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Abilities Required:

• Ability to work various shifts; day, swing, grave, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain professionalism while handling guest complaints or difficult situations
• Ability to follow policies, procedures, safety, and security procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide prompt and courteous service to ensure a positive customer experience
• Ensure proper operation of:
• Cash recycler
• POS system and dispenser pump controls
• Cooking devices
• Cleaning equipment
• Assist customers with merchandise purchases, fuel transactions, and general inquiries.
• Food preparation:
• Prepare and maintain hot food items such as items placed in warmers
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain cleanliness of food preparation areas
• Ensure food products are fresh, properly stocked, and rotated
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Report on stockouts or potential stockouts
• Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns to management promptly
• Stock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays with merchandise
• Face and organize products to maintain an appealing store appearance
• Check in vendor freight and verify quantities and accuracy of received inventory
• Ensure all perishable merchandise is properly checked in and date-stamped
• Security awareness (drive-offs, theft, counterfeit money)
• Assist with monthly inventory counts
• Operate and secure cash, receipts, coupons, comps, and related documentation
• Respond appropriately to safety incidents:
• Contact security and report injuries or incidents accurately and promptly
• Perform Chore list
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the C-Store Supervisor, C-Store Manager, or General Manager

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
• Regularly required to talk and hear
• Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods
• Regular use of hands to manage objects, tools, and controls
• Occasionally required to sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must be able to lift up to forty pounds
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

• Work environments may include cage, gaming floor, convention center, and C-Store locations
• Exposure to flashing lights, loud noises, cigarette smoke, and high public traffic
• Frequent and prolonged computer use (POS systems, tills, data entry)
• Exposure to potential workplace hazards
• High-volume, direct public contact
• Occasional interaction with angry or aggressive individuals

Schedule Requirements:

• Must be flexible with work schedule
• Must be willing to work any shift and hours as assigned based on business needs
