Psych RN, Float/Geriatric Inpatient, 2nd Shift

Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support individuals receiving care in Hospital and Residential settings. The RN plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centered nursing care while promoting a safe, recovery-focused environment. This position provides clinical leadership, oversight, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary care team.About the unit:Growing older is a natural part of life. Advancing age may bring a loss of independence and declining physical abilities. Both are factors in the special mental health needs of older adults. At Pine Rest, we have a complete assessment program for older adults and significant experience with successful treatment.We provide the full continuum of individualized care, offered in a comfortable, supportive environment. We believe in preserving and encouraging independence, coupled with care that is safe and practical for each individual.The unit is 26 beds total, featuring a distinct close observation wing with 10 private patient rooms, allowing for separation of patients by capability. Average length of stay is 15 to 20 days. Our specialty services include treatment for dementia, depression and anxiety, as well as medication management.Families often suffer along with their older relatives, and part of our program is designed especially for those who provide care on a daily basis. We offer a support group aimed at building an understanding of the changes in loved ones, learning what to expect, and how to develop coping skills.Registered Nurse (RN) Key Responsibilities:Assess individuals' nursing care needs and develop, implement, and reassess plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teamCoordinate and provide nursing care in collaboration with physicians for individuals and groupsProvide milieu management and education to individuals served and their families, including discharge and aftercare planningMaintain a safe and secure environment for persons served and staffDocument, verify, and communicate patient care information according to established policies and proceduresMonitor for and report potential safety risks or changes in condition to providersServe as a clinical leader by delegating tasks, coordinating staff assignments, and supporting staff developmentParticipate in safety management, crisis intervention, prevention, and de-escalationSupport person-centered, recovery-focused care across diverse populations and clinical settingsRole model professionalism, compassion, and Pine Rest's mission and valuesMay train or provide oversight to direct care staff and support medication and physical health activitiesRegistered Nurse (RN) Qualifications:Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) licenseBachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferredSatisfactory prior clinical experience; psychiatric nursing experience preferredCPR certification required (BLS or CPR/AED/First Aid as applicable by program)Strong clinical judgment, communication, leadership, and teamwork skillsAbility to provide culturally inclusive, compassionate careValid Michigan driver's license may be requiredRegistered Nurse (RN) Additional Details:Pay based on education and experienceNon-Exempt (hourly) positionPhysically active role requiring standing, walking, lifting, crisis response, and work in potentially adverse environmentsCompetitive benefits packageMay function as a charge nursePre-Employment RequirementsEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, education verification, and drug screen.Equal Opportunity EmployerPine Rest is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
