Maintenance Technician

Job TitleGarage TechnicianJob DescriptionInspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects in motorized equipment including automobiles, trucks, tractors, and a variety of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential job functions include evaluating mechanical problems in vehicles and equipment using diagnostic tools, performing automotive and equipment repairs to include general overhaul on motors, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and pumps and brakes, performing emergency repairs in the field as necessary, assisting with ordering parts, materials, and equipment, and assisting in maintenance of shop area. Training, experience, and other requirements include the ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, use good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly, three (3) years' experience in automotive repair with knowledge and skills in the repair of light, medium, and heavy equipment, and the ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, push, pull, and/or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment and/or materials, climb, crawl, kneel, squat, stoop, stand, sit, and bend when driving or maintaining equipment, hear and see clearly when working around equipment or in traffic, work outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather with some exposure to dust, fumes, noise, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards while using proper safety precautions. Additional information includes the requirement for all City employees to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Kingsville's citizens, the need for a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of eligibility to legally work in the U.S., and the requirement for the successful applicant to pass a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and background investigation.BenefitsThe City of Kingsville offers AWESOME BENEFITS for Full-Time Employees… Health Insurance - In-Network – 80% co-insurance after deductible, variable plans.
